Analysis Model for Damage of PBO Composite Laminate Target by High-Velocity Projectile Penetration

Abstract Poly-p-phenylene benzobisoxazole (PBO) fiber is a new with high ballistic performance, such as excellent heat and flame resistance super mechanical properties. Consequently, increasing attention has been paid to its applications in the field of resistance. To identify damage mechanism PBO composite target caused by high-velocity penetration cylindrical projectiles energy conversion mode involved process, this paper constructs engineering analysis model using method combination stress wave propagation projectile motion analysis. The residual velocity steel after perforating laminate measured through tests, it compared value predicted model. Comparison results show that good agreement measurement, an error less than 2.6%, thereby proving validity constructed
